The 2nd Forum on Integrated Source-Grid-Load-Storage-Computing Systems and Green Electricity Direct Supply Applications was held in Shanghai on October 15–16. Organized by the Industrial Development Promotion Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the forum focused on the coordinated planning of source-grid-load-storage systems during China’s 15th Five-Year Plan period, pathways for implementing direct green electricity supply, and cutting-edge technologies for power-computing synergy. It brought together experts from across the industry value chain, leading enterprises, research institutions, and end-user representatives to explore new pathways for building a new-type power system.

Guo Jian, Technical Director of Source-Grid-Load-Storage Solutions at Guangdong Zhiguang Integrated Energy Co., Ltd. (“Zhiguang Integrated Energy”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Guangzhou Zhiguang Electric Co., Ltd., was invited to deliver a keynote presentation titled Typical Integrated Source-Grid-Load-Storage Applications Based on Solid-State Transformers.

Guo noted that, as national policies continue to drive the deeper integration of source, grid, load, and storage, alongside increased investment in power grid infrastructure, solid-state transformers (SSTs) are accelerating their transition from technological exploration to large-scale engineering applications.

As a next-generation intelligent power conversion solution, Zhiguang Electric’s Coota solid-state transformer integrates voltage conversion, electrical isolation, power quality management, and intelligent dispatch. With an overall power supply efficiency of up to 98.5%, Coota offers a full range of power solutions from 1 MW to 4.2 MW, enabling flexible configuration to meet the needs of diverse application scenarios.

SST + AIDC: Powering High-Density Computing

Zhiguang Electric’s Coota eliminates multiple stages of voltage conversion by directly converting 10 kV AC into 800 V DC, effectively reducing power losses and heat generation. It also responds to high-frequency fluctuations in computing loads within milliseconds, providing data center racks with stable, high-quality DC power.

SST + Ultra-Fast Charging Stations: Enabling Megawatt-Level Charging

Coota supports megawatt-level flash and ultra-fast charging while coordinating energy distribution between energy storage systems and the power grid. By dynamically adjusting station-side load profiles, it reduces the instantaneous impact of high-power charging on distribution networks, improving power supply stability and grid compatibility at ultra-fast charging stations.

SST + Zero-Carbon Industrial Parks: Coordinating Source, Grid, Load, and Storage

Zhiguang Electric’s Coota-based DC solution for zero-carbon industrial parks deeply integrates distributed photovoltaic generation, energy storage, and flexible loads onto a common DC bus, significantly increasing the local consumption of renewable energy. Leveraging intelligent dispatch and power quality management capabilities, the solution enables coordinated responses across generation, grid, load, and storage, supporting intelligent energy management and efficient operations in industrial parks.

The presentation also showcased the application results of Zhiguang Electric’s Coota solid-state transformer in the Huangpu demonstration project in Guangzhou. As Guangdong Province’s first solid-state transformer demonstration project with fully independent intellectual property rights, it provides a replicable and scalable model for the development of new-type power systems.

Looking ahead, Zhiguang Integrated Energy will continue to deepen its focus on digital energy. Leveraging core capabilities such as integrated source-grid-load-storage solutions, the company will accelerate the large-scale deployment of SSTs across diverse application scenarios and work with industry partners to advance the green and low-carbon energy transition.
